Equitable Care Certification Registration

Moving towards competency in any area of practice is a daunting task. This is certainly true when the task is one of confronting and dismantling oppressive systems & biases within ourselves. The Equitable Care Certification is a first step in developing a capacity to better care for those in the adult industry. The curriculum is made up of twelve, 3.5 hour courses (36 AASECT CE credits) of sex work-centered content.

The curriculum includes:

Course 1: Who Are Sex Workers?
Course 2: A Brief Look Throughout History
Course 3: Systemic Oppression
Course 4: Systemic Oppression in Healthcare
Course 5: Sex Work, Trafficking, and Propaganda
Course 6: Decriminalization vs. Legalization
Course 7: Sex Shame, Addiction, and Porn
Course 8: The Physiology of Trauma
Course 9: Dynamics of Abuse
Course 10: The Role of Community
Course 11: Sex Work, Sex Positivity, and Families

Course 12: Clinical Concerns for Working with Sex Workers

Upon completion of the certification coursework, students are required to offer counseling to a sex worker for a minimum of 12 hours, pro bono. ECC will refer this client through our parent organization, sex worker-led, Zepp Wellness Center. ECC will meet with each client after during their care to discuss your competence in session. Additionally, you will be required to do 3 hours of supervision – 1 hour for every 4 hours of direct service, once a month.

Once your direct service & supervision hours are complete and we’ve met with the clients, you will receive your Certificate of Completion of AASECT CE Certificate and will be added to our “ECC Professionals” page for two years.

The certification will expire after two years, at which time your profile will be hidden on the "ECC Professionals" page until you recertify. The recertification process requires successful completion of an auxiliary course from our Course Catalog.
